No matter your schedule. No matter your age. We have a place for you to help.
Off-Site Volunteer Opportunities:
Great for families looking to volunteer from home, or groups looking to volunteer from their office or school. Our team will come to you to present about our work. It pairs well with a bagged lunch packing activity. MEALS
Volunteers purchase and prepare ingredients to make meals for both drop-in participants at Hilda's Place and the Main Office, and those at the Margarita Inn.
ORGANIZE A DRIVE Organize a drive in your work, school, place of worship, or residential community to help meet the most urgent, critical basic needs of our participants. Setup a food drive, a clothing drive, a hygiene drive, or even a household goods drive. Connections can provide a bin and posters. Contact us at [email protected] for more information. Or, visit our website here for our holiday season needs. ADVOCATE FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Join us in advocating to increase affordable housing in communities throughout the North Shore. In addition, we're raising awareness of issues contributing to homelessness, such as income inequality. Learn more about our advocacy efforts. |
On-Site Volunteer Opportunities:
Support our drop-in centers and the Margarita Inn through a range of on-site roles, both working directly with participants and working behind the scenes to help our programs be successful. On-site opportunities are available for individuals and groups. Volunteers are also needed at special events throughout the year. DROP-IN SERVICES
Assist our participants with accessing their basic needs and helping them feel comfortable as they navigate case management and health care services, clothing room, laundry, showers, food pantry, and other services. Virtual orientation is required for all drop-in volunteers.
Sign up for volunteer orientation here. TRANSPORTATION & UNLOADING Help us unload our monthly deliveries from Greater Chicago Food Depository on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. Sign up here. Volunteers are also needed to pick up donations from other locations, and transport items from site to site. GROUP SERVICE PROJECTS Connections for the Homeless welcomes groups of colleagues, students, or faith communities to organize and engage in a service project on-site or off-site. We offer group opportunities regularly on Wednesday afternoons and the second Saturday of the month for a Saturday of Service for up to 25 people. Details here. Want to learn more about how to engage your group? Contact us. SPECIALTY ROLES
