Connections is fully committed to the ongoing journey of becoming an anti-racist institution. Our core values of Equity & Inclusion are at the center of our work. Our work countermands the daily violence that people with low or no income, who are disproportionately Black and Brown, experience when they are seeking housing or facing homelessness. We commit to the following steps: We commit to increasing the number of Black and Brown voices at all levels of leadership. We will continue to provide equity-framed services that help people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity through eviction prevention, housing, and shelter programs. We will persist in advocating for more affordable housing at local and statewide levels through Joining Forces for Affordable Housing. We will hire more Latinx staff and Spanish-speaking employees to better serve our participants and foster a more diverse workplace. We will participate in the YWCA Equity Institute to create a more equitable workplace for our employees and inclusive environment for those we serve. We will continue to incorporate restorative practices and facilitate peace circles to create space for every voice across the agency to be heard. |
