Joining Forces for Affordable HousingFormed in January 2017, Joining Forces is a Connections-led coalition comprising local non-profits, faith communities, and individuals focused on increasing the affordability of housing in our communities. Now officially adopted as a program of Connections, Joining Forces is staffed by Connections’ Advocacy Manager, Sue Loellbach, and the coalition has been a catalyst in securing a total of 52 new units of affordable housing in Evanston and Wilmette in the past year.
Joining Forces’ work has been instrumental in keeping the issue of affordable housing at the forefront of the Evanston City Council’s agenda, resulting in the recent announcement that the City will be creating a new affordable housing plan. Joining Forces is also beginning to work in the neighboring communities of Skokie and Wilmette and striving to pave the path for a regional affordable housing plan. |
