We believe 2017 will be a year of opportunity. The opportunity to restore our Drop-In program from 2 afternoons to 5 days a week. The opportunity to implement a community-based funding strategy for Hilda’s Place, our overnight shelter, removing the threat posed by ongoing fluctuations in government funding. And the opportunity to test new staffing models at Our House, as we complete the pilot phase of this new residential program for young adults.
Achieving those goals will require us to raise $500,000 in new or increased giving. To help our efforts, the Finnegan Family Foundation has generously offered to match, up to $50,000, all donations from new donors and increased donations from past donors.* We are asking you to support us by continuing, and increasing, your contributions to Connections this year.
More than 600 people have come to Connections for help in 2016. With affordable housing scarce and thousands on the North Shore at-risk of becoming homeless, the number of people seeking our help in 2017 will continue to rise. Together, we can ensure that our services are safeguarded against unreliable government funding. Together, we can make our community a place where everyone has access to safe and stable housing.
Together, we can do better.
* Donations/Pledges must be received by 12/31/16 to be eligible for the matching challenge.
